La muerte y la doncella
By Ariel Dorfman.
Directed by Sándor Menéndez & Marcela Muñoz.
Feb 6th – Mar 8th, 2026
After years of dictatorship, a country tries to rebuild itself under a new democratic order. In the midst of this fragile transition, Paulina, a woman marked by the violence of the past, faces an unexpected encounter: the man she believes was her torturer reappears in her life under disturbing circumstances. Is it really him? Does she have the right to take justice into her own hands?
In this intense psychological thriller, three characters are trapped in a confrontation where nothing is completely certain: the truth blurs, justice becomes complicated, and memory turns into a battlefield.
La muerte y la doncella (Death and the Maiden), written by Ariel Dorfman in 1990, is one of the most widely performed works of contemporary Latin American theater. Renowned for its powerful exploration of memory, justice, and trauma in the aftermath of political repression, it has been produced in numerous countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Spain, and across Latin America, both in Spanish and in translation. Its artistic and social relevance has made it an essential reference for theater that engages with human rights and the history being written daily around the world.
