Marcopolo Soto
Marcopolo Soto is a Chicagoan bilingual actor and his most recent stage credits include Cintas de Seda by Norge Espinosa performed as part of the 5th Destinos Chicago International Latino Theater Festival and participated in the XI International Theater Festival of the Dominican Republic in Santiago de los Caballeros, also in Aguijón Theater he’s worked in plays such as Adverses by Rey Andujar; Adentro, Epopeya by Abel González Melo; La Chunga by Mario Vargas Llosa; Brutality by Gustavo Ott; and No se Vende by Guadalis del Carmen. He also participated with Teatro Vista’s Stage reading of Hundreds and Hundreds of Stars by Sandra Delgado presented at Northeastern Illinois University; and with Urban Theater of Chicago with the reading of Tacos La Brooklyn by Joel Ulloa.
In 2009 him and three other writers co-funded Colectivo el Pozo, and he worked in four of their earliest plays: Una Hormiga en la 26 presented at Casa Aztlán in the neighborhood of Pilsen, Camino al Ahorita, y Colján both presented at Calles y Sueños also in Pilsen, and Los Carralejas presented in the Girls and boys club of Chicago in the neighborhood of La Villita. From 2018 to 2020 he was the Editorial Director of Contratiempo (printed edition).
Since 2014 he’s been an ensemble member of Chicago’s Aguijón Theater and has served the company in multiple functions. He was the Editorial Coordinator and Co-editor of the Book Aguijón 30 años|Aguijón 30 years, and currently Marcopolo Soto is a member of the board of directors of Aguijón theater.
