† (1945-2019)  Alba Guerra was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and later moved to Chicago, where she started her acting career with Opera Factory. In 1991, she joined Aguijón Theater, becoming the longest-standing member of the company. Guerra has participated in a broad array of theatrical productions known for their emotional depth and diversity of roles. Her repertoire includes plays such as Salomé, Blood Wedding, The House of Bernarda Alba, Yerma, Perversions, Lust According to Ramiro, Even Sparrows Leave Their Nest, Monday Falls on León Rodríguez, Antigone, Eréndira, Dear Voyeur, The Respectful Prostitute, Blowout, and A House of Her Own. Beyond her remarkable theatrical career, Guerra was also an esteemed singer of Latin American music, widely acclaimed in Chicago’s artistic circles for her passionate tango performances.

She was a member of the Chicago Folklore Ensemble, where her voice beautifully captured the essence of folk and world music. Guerra ventured into television and advertising as well, appearing in commercials and series such as Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D. Her last theatrical performance was in Stephanie Alison Walker’s play The Abuelas, produced by Teatro Vista, four months before her passing.

Remembered for her artistic versatility, cheerful personality, and kind, gregarious spirit, Alba Guerra is honored as an emerita artist of Aguijón Theater, leaving an enduring legacy in Chicago’s theatrical and musical community.
