Nydia has been an Aguijón Theater ensemble member since 2001, her acting credits with the company include over 15 plays, among them: The House of Bernarda Alba, Yerma, Eréndira, and Adverses (an adaptation of Electra.) Other stage Chicago credits include: Bodas de Sangre and Lorca Vive! among various works with Water People Theater. She’s been a collective member of Urban Theater Company(UTC) since 2015 and has participated in many UTC productions nationwide. La Gringa and Ashes of Light which won her a nomination for best actress through ALTA, a Chicago based performing arts organization. She made her off Broadway debut in 2019 with this same play. In 2022 she performed again in Ashes of Light produced by Teatro Dallas, in Texas. In her natal Puerto Rico, her acting credits include: Puerto Rico Fuà, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and Fela, the musical! In 2021 Nydia was part of the grand inauguration of LatinUs Theater; the first Latino Theater space in Cleveland, Ohio where she was invited to perform the lead role in La Casa de Bernarda Alba. She returned to LatinUs Theater in 2023 to participate in Los Soles Truncos, a Puertorrican classic by Renè Marquès. In 2023 Nydia was part of the cast of Quinceañera -The immersive experience-, written by the award-winning writer Rick Najera. Graduated from the University of Puerto Rico with an extensive career in the field of education, Nydia holds Masters in Educational Leadership and Counseling. In her natal Puerto Rico she was well known as a runway model, actress and radio personality.
